Temporary Patient Scheduling Representative

The Patient Scheduling Representative (PSR) is responsible for scheduling patient appointments according to the Primary Care Office Protocols. The PSR will work with patients either directly in person, or indirectly via phone or electronic correspondence to meet patient needs regarding scheduling, updating patient information, checking patients in and out, and acting as a liaison in reporting any patient suggestions to the appropriate clinic staff. The PSR meets established quality and productivity standards and interacts professionally with office staff, employees, outside vendors, patients, and patient representatives.
Essential Functions (Not all inclusive):
Scheduling
- Coordinating appointments for consultations, evaluations, treatments, follow up, re-evaluations, etc.
- Knowledge and understanding of scheduling requirements for different appointment types.
- Apply clinical knowledge to determine consistency and appropriateness with patients diagnosis, chief complaint, and indication.
- Apply clinical knowledge in providing accurate and detailed information to patients in preparation for their appointment.
- Responsible for conducting appointment reminders
- Review Preventative and Insurance Incentives
Reception
- Create and maintain patient records; including updated demographics and insurance.
- Assures all related chart information and paperwork is current and available for appointment.
- Scan and file documents into the patients electronic medical record.
- Answering incoming calls and conducting outbound calls, gathering information to route appropriately.
- Check in and check out of clinic patients.
Customer Service
- Communicate in a manner consistent with positive patient relations.
- Provide helpful assistance in anticipating and responding to the needs of patients and family members.
- Independently recognize, interpret, and evaluation situations and their level of urgency.
- Remain calm under pressure and effectively deal with challenging situations.
Education, Training, and Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Administrative Health Care Experience, preferred
- Computer literacy required
- Effective verbal and written communication skills required
- Knowledge of medical terminology, preferred
- CPR/BLS, preferred
