The Hospital Director of Infection Control will play an integral role in the health system's continued success. The Infection Control and Prevention Administrator will be responsible for implementing policies, procedures and assuring patient safety throughout the continuum of care by reducing clinical risk, hospital-acquired infections, and managing pandemics across the entire health system.
The Chief of Infection Control will coordinate and direct the implementation of the multiple facets of the Health System's Infection Control Program to ensure high-quality patient care and an environment that protects employees, patients, and visitors. They must advise and consult with senior leadership and staff on potential sources of infectious diseases, making crucial decisions on eliminating or minimizing the impact.
The Director is responsible for implementing and overseeing the Infection Control Plan. The ability to review microbiological data according to established standards is important.
The Director of Infection Control CIC will actively participate on the Infection Control Committee and be a permanent member on the following committees:
- Hospital Product Analysis Committee
- Patient Safety Committee
- Emergency Management Committee
- Environment of Care Committee
- Hospital Policy Review Committee
The ideal candidate will hold a Master's in Public Health or Epidemiology. Certification or eligibility for CIC (Certification in Infection Control) is required, as is progressive leadership experience in Infection Control. The candidate can be a nurse or in the public health field.
