Reports to Operating Room Director, the OR Nurse Manager will manage oversight for the entire OR department, including both inpatient and outpatient facilities, each with 4 ORs. The role is supported by 4 assistant managers who manage the nursing staff and senior surgical technicians. The outpatient site is located a mile away from the inpatient facility. The whole department consists of approximately 116 FTEs. This collaborative approach is essential to maintaining the fast-paced energy required in this dynamic Surgical Services Unit.
The Surgical Services Nurse Manager is expected to have knowledge on the principles and practices of Preoperative Nursing and Patient Care. The Manager will be responsible for serving as a role model, initiator in problem-solving, decision-making processes, delegating, and communicating information to the nursing staff. The Surgical Services Nurse Manager will develop clear performance expectations and resolve performance problems. In addition to these aspects, the Manager will also help develop and maintain the departmental budget, as well as regulatory compliance.
