Job Title: High School Science Teacher (Grades 9-12)

Position Summary: Clinton Public Schools is seeking a passionate and dedicated High School Science Teacher to join our team for the upcoming school year. The ideal candidate will be committed to fostering a stimulating and supportive learning environment where students can develop a strong understanding of scientific principles, critical thinking skills, and an appreciation for the natural world. This position involves planning, organizing, and delivering high-quality instruction in various science disciplines (potentially including Biology, Chemistry, Zoology, Anatomy, Physics, Earth Science, or General Science, depending on certification and school needs) aligned with the Oklahoma Academic Standards for Science (OAS-S).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Instructional Planning & Delivery:
- Develop engaging lesson plans and instructional materials that meet the diverse needs of all learners.
- Implement curriculum aligned with the Oklahoma Academic Standards for Science (OAS-S).
- Utilize a variety of teaching strategies, including lectures, demonstrations, discussions, inquiry-based learning, and hands-on laboratory activities.
- Integrate technology effectively into the science curriculum.
- Classroom & Lab Management:
- Establish and maintain a safe, orderly, and positive classroom environment conducive to learning.
- Manage student behavior effectively according to school and district policies.
- Oversee the safe use and maintenance of science laboratory equipment, materials, and chemicals, ensuring all safety protocols are followed.
- Assessment & Evaluation:
- Develop and administer various forms of assessment (formative and summative) to monitor student progress and understanding.
- Provide timely and constructive feedback to students.
- Maintain accurate and complete student records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations.
- Communication & Collaboration:
- Communicate effectively and professionally with students, parents/guardians, colleagues, and administrators regarding student progress and curriculum matters.
- Collaborate with other science teachers, department members, and school staff to enhance the instructional program.
- Participate actively in faculty meetings, professional development opportunities, parent-teacher conferences, and other school-related activities.
- Professional Responsibilities:
- Stay current with developments in science education, subject matter content, and state standards.
- Adhere to all district policies, school regulations, and professional ethics codes.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the principal or designated administrator (e.g., hallway supervision, committee work).
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree (or higher) from an accredited college or university.
- Valid Oklahoma Teaching Certificate with appropriate endorsement(s) for secondary science (e.g., Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Physics, Earth Science, Physical Science, General Science).
- Demonstrated knowledge of the Oklahoma Academic Standards for Science (OAS-S).
- Ability to pass all required background checks (state and federal).
- Strong understanding of science content and pedagogy.
