Job Summary
We are looking for a detail-oriented Construction Project Accountant to manage the financial aspects of our construction projects. The ideal candidate will have experience in the construction industry, a strong understanding of project accounting principles, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. This role will be instrumental in ensuring accurate financial reporting, cost control, and compliance with contractual obligations.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all financial aspects of multiple construction projects, ensuring accuracy and adherence to budgets.
- Prepare and review project financial reports, including job cost tracking, budget-to-actual comparisons, and variance analysis.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable related to projects, ensuring timely invoicing and payment processing.
- Assist in preparing monthly draw requests and coordinate with project managers for billing accuracy.
- Track subcontractor and vendor payments, ensuring compliance with contract terms and lien waivers.
- Monitor and report on project profitability, working closely with project managers and leadership.
- Reconcile job costs, purchase orders, and contract commitments.
- Support financial forecasting and cash flow analysis for ongoing projects.
- Maintain project documentation, including contracts, change orders, and compliance records.
- Assist with audits, tax filings, and other financial compliance matters as required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
- 3 years of accounting experience in the construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of construction accounting principles, including AIA billing, retainage, and job cost reporting.
- Proficiency in accounting software (such as Procore or QuickBooks) and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to interact with project managers, subcontractors, and senior leadership.
