CLASSIFICATION: Full-Time, 40 hours
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position will be responsible for assisting with the emergency housing and ESG programs, placing households on the MSHDA Housing Choice Voucher with Homeless Preference, Housing Case Management, and assist with outreach.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Energy Efficiency (MEAP) Program
- This position will be required to assist with MEAP (Michigan Energy Assistance Program).
- This position with assist with Intake: including entering in household data in HMIS.
- This position will be required to assist in completing follow-up with clients for case management purposes.
- MSHDA Housing Choice Voucher Homeless Preference Waitlist
- As the Lead Agency for MSHDA, this position would be responsible for assisting homeless/at-risk households get onto the MSHDA HCV Waitlist with Homeless Preference for the Tri-County Area (Chippewa, Luce, Mackinac).
- This position will be required to gain access as a Key Person by signing a Key Person Security Agreement with MSHDA.
- This position will be required to travel to multiple satellite offices to assist households within the tri-county service area get placed on the MSHDA HCV HP waitlist.
- Work effectively with MSHDA Housing Agent(s)
- Identify local units available for rent
- Maintain a current list of landlords
- Build/maintain relationship with landlords
Case ManagementOutreachMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS: *TRAVEL:
- SOAR targets, Individuals who are disabled and experiencing homelessness or are at risk of homelessness.
- The SOAR program targets individuals who are experiencing or “at-risk” of homelessness AND have a serious mental illness, medical impairment and/or a co-occurring substance use disorder.
- This position will be required to take the next available cohort and complete the training.
- This position will be required to assist other Community Action Departments, such as: Weatherization, Housing, Head start, etc. retrieve required DHHS documentation for their clients to receive services.
- This position will be required to assist household with housing needs and questions to the fullest of their ability. This could include: landlord lists, guidance, referrals, assistance with completing applications, etc.
- Network with landlords in the tri-county area.
- Have a detailed knowledge of the housing services within the tri-county area and broken down by county. This knowledge should include basic understanding of eligibility requirements.
- This position will be required as an employee of Community Action to do outreach within the community.
- This position will be required to attend events, conferences, trainings, meetings, etc. as advised by its superior(s).
- This position must have a good understanding and knowledge of all agency programs, beyond Housing.
- Must Represent CLMCAA in a positive manner in the community and when attending community events and training functions.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Associates degree from a university in: communication, social work, human services, community development, business, or another related field and/or equivalent combination of work experience.
- Preferably has knowledge of the barriers and challenges of homeless and/or low-income households or willingness to learn.
- Must have the ability to prioritize and multi-task efficiently. Must have experience working with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, email, internet use, capacity to learn required external databases, etc.
- Will be required to pass criminal history check.
- Must have valid Michigan driver’s license, an acceptable driving record and reliable transportation.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $17.00 - $18.50 per hour
