WHO YOU ARE
The National Account Manager, Retail is responsible for the day-to-day operations for the Club (Costco, Sam’s, BJ’s) and Mass Merchant (Walmart) account base. The National Account Manager will drive success by ensuring we have the right assortment paired with the most effective use of marketing programs. The successful candidate will have knowledge of the retail industry with an emphasis on the Club and Mass Merchant channels having worked in a Sales, Account Management, or Business Development role previously.
WHERE YOU WILL WORK
The AMES Companies headquarters are located in Orlando, Florida. This position will primarily work remote with travel to the West Coast and Mid-West. Candidates residing in major cities in the West Coast or Mid-West preferred.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Sales Execution & Relationship Management: Own and manage the sales execution for assigned national and major retail accounts, ensuring alignment with both company objectives and customer requirements. Build and maintain strong customer relationships across all functional areas to drive initiatives that improve sales and profitability.
- Account & Channel Development: Identify opportunities within the Club & Mass Channel, managing the entire sales process to provide customers with quotes, presentations, samples, and displays that support product placement in clubs and retail stores.
- Sales Cycle Management: Oversee all aspects of the sales cycle, ensuring a high level of customer service, timely delivery of products, and a seamless experience throughout.
- Retail Account Execution: Lead the execution of national retail account resets and new store setups, ensuring smooth implementation and alignment with business goals.
- Planogram & Promotional Management: Plan, create, and maintain planograms that align with retail partner strategies. Optimize promotional trade spend to maximize margin, revenue, and volume growth.
- Data Analysis & Opportunity Identification: Analyze sales data and customer trends to identify opportunities for growth, increased account penetration, and enhanced sales strategies.
- Digital & Omnichannel Sales Management: Collaborate with the Digital Sales team and Retailer’s Omnichannel Teams to manage online initiatives that drive sustainable ecommerce growth and offline, ecommerce-influenced growth (in stores).
- Sales Forecasting & Monitoring: Develop and monitor sales forecasts by product category and account. Track shipments and point-of-sale data to ensure business deliverables are met.
- Strategic Planning & Execution: Support the development of long-term strategic planning, annual operating plans, and major product launches. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Marketing and Supply Chain, to optimize inventory planning, pricing strategies, and promotional execution.
- Trade Shows & Customer Engagement: Manage, coordinate, and attend relevant trade shows and customer meetings to strengthen relationships and drive business initiatives.
- Team Collaboration & Feedback: Work as an integral part of the sales team by identifying potential areas for business growth, assisting in growth plan development, providing competitive feedback, and interfacing with various functional areas within both the company and customer organizations.
REQUIREMENTS
Minimum 4 Year College education preferably in a related field of study such as Marketing, Business or Sales
Minimum 4 years of previous experience as a National Account Manager, or in a merchandising or marketing role within a retail organization.
- Must be proactive and results-oriented with strong organization, negotiation and presentation skills
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills is mandatory
- Excellent understanding of analytical sales data and how to use this information to build business relationships and programs
- Ability to build and maintain strong relationships quickly.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and demands in a fast paced, time-sensitive environment.
