I. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Incumbent is responsible to lead the Quality Assurance effort within the Manufacturing Plant. Ensure that advanced quality science methods are used to evaluate products and processes within the manufacturing Plant. Analyze and improve Quality System modules as per their impact on the product and process quality. This position will be recognized for expertise in the quality sciences and for competent integration of related technologies within the location and across the Business Unit. Responsible for managing departmental budgets, both capitol and expense, and for departmental staffing to meet business goals. Provide Plant representation on quality concerns to both suppliers and customers. Provide leadership, personal and professional growth opportunities, and strategic planning opportunities for members on the Quality Team. Create tactical plans to achieve Quality goals and provide strategic planning input to Plant management. Financial. Understands financial objectives; meets or exceeds financial performance targets (i.e. scrap and downtime); participates in forecasting and financial analysis; manages capital projects including writing and completing RFAs. Safety. Manages an aggressive effort for the Operation to meet all Safety Goals. Results. Creates actions that will result in achieving the CSI Business Plan Manufacturing Goals, and continuously improves the quality of PSY/MPI performance (scrap and productivity), and drives process improvements by employing Lean Manufacturing concepts. Training. Supports the development of effective training and development programs for Quality Department personnel, utilizes Lean Manufacturing (and other Operational Excellence principles, TQC, SPC, TPM, JIT). Implements and provides this same quality & process training, including coaching and counseling, to employees and supervisors to increase their overall effectiveness, involvement, accountability, and attainment of results. Teamwork. Works effectively in a team environment. Establishes and maintains excellent communications with Operation Manager, all other department managers, works in a team-oriented environment supporting organizational goals and projects. Integrates quality systems to ensure a common quality system throughout the North American Plant locations. Provides manufacturing personnel with quality systems and tools that allow effective evaluation of products and processes. Ensures the application of advanced quality tools to provide process improvement to the manufacturing group. Ensures that quality tools and system training are adequate to meet the Plant goals. Provides documentation systems that are appropriate for international registration as appropriate. Provides leadership and direction for the group to enable them to perform their tasks. Provides tactical and strategic planning for the quality group.
II. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Able to supervise and coach team members.
III. EDUCATIONAL AND OTHER SKILL REQUIREMENTS
BS in appropriate technical discipline (Engineering, Math, Science) and a minimum of 10 years related industrial experience, with at least four years in a departmental management position; or, an advanced degree with at least 5 years of related experience with at least 3 years in a departmental management position. American Society for Quality Control (A.S.Q.C.) certification in quality engineering (CQE or quality management (CQM), Society of Manufacturing Engineering (SME) certification as a Manufacturing Engineer (CMfgE) or registration as a Professional Engineer P.E. Experience with plastic molding equipment and rotating machinery. Must have a working knowledge of statistics, SPC and Design of Experiments. Must have the ability to train production employees and engineers in advanced statistical methods. Must have experience in ISO 9000, FSSC22000, AIB, Milk Shippers, ASI, third party audit procedures and quality system implementation. Must have familiarity with GMPs used in the food and food packaging industries. Must have familiarity with FDA regulations as they apply to food packaging. Must have good computer skills and be knowledgeable in the use of Excel, Word, and statistical software packages such as NFI, Statgraphics, SPSS, and QI Analyst. Must have experience in departmental management function such as staffing levels, personnel development, budgeting, planning and results evaluation. Must have experience in dealing with customers in a complaint situation. Must possess communication and leadership skills to effectively deal with customers who are experiencing frustration with products from CSI. 10. Must be familiar with physical inspection processes, tools, equipment and gauging and also be able to conduct gauge reproducibility and repeatability studies. Ability to analyze situations and create improvement plans from a strategic and tactical standpoint. Should demonstrate good problem solving skills and be able to prioritize work as per the business needs.
Work Schedule: 8 hour days, with occasional after hours work.

PPE: ANSI Z41 approved safety shoes, hearing and eye protection as appropriate for work area, gloves according to work tasks, and other PPE as assigned and required.
