An ETL Informatica Administrator is responsible for managing and maintaining the Informatica PowerCenter platform, ensuring the smooth operation of data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes by configuring connections, managing users, monitoring performance, troubleshooting issues, and implementing security measures within the Informatica domain, primarily focusing on data integration tasks across various systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Domain Administration:
- Managing Informatica domain objects like connections, source systems, target systems, mappings, workflows, and schedules.
- Creating and managing user accounts and access control within the Informatica domain.
- Monitoring domain health, performance metrics, and troubleshooting any system errors.
- ETL Process Management:
- Monitoring and optimizing ETL workflows to ensure timely data delivery and performance.
- Identifying and resolving bottlenecks in ETL processes
- Implementing data quality checks and validation rules within ETL workflows
- Data Source Configuration:
- Establishing connections to diverse data sources like databases, flat files, APIs, and applications.
- Configuring data extraction parameters and optimizing data retrieval methods
- Performance Tuning:
- Analysing ETL performance metrics and identifying areas for improvement
- Implementing performance optimization techniques like partitioning, indexing, and data caching
- Security Management:
- Enforcing data security policies by managing user permissions and data access controls
- Implementing encryption standards for sensitive data
- Backup and Recovery:
- Performing regular backups of Informatica metadata and configuration files
- Ensuring disaster recovery capabilities by maintaining backup systems
- Collaboration and Support:
- Working closely with ETL developers to resolve issues and implement new data integration solutions
- Providing technical support to users on data integration processes
Required Skills:
- Informatica PowerCenter Administration:Expertise in managing Informatica domain, including user management, security, and performance optimization.
- Data Warehousing Concepts:Understanding of data warehouse design principles, dimensional modelling, and data cleansing techniques
- SQL Proficiency:Strong SQL skills to query and manipulate data from various sources
- ETL Development Knowledge:Familiarity with ETL concepts, data transformation logic, and workflow design
- Problem-solving and Troubleshooting:Ability to diagnose and resolve complex data integration issues
