What are the responsibilities and job description for the Design Authority position at Clover Leaf?
The Design Authority (DA) is the engineer designated by the Chief Engineer for the technical area work group. This individual is responsible for establishing design requirements and ensuring that design output documentation accurately reflects the design basis. The Design Authority upholds design control and the ultimate technical adequacy of the design process, regardless of whether the process is conducted fully in-house, partially contracted to outside organizations, or fully contracted to outside organizations.
Key Responsibilities:
Design Requirements: Establish and maintain design requirements to ensure the accuracy and completeness of design output documentation.
Design Basis Management: Oversee and approve changes to design requirements, the Design of Record (Code of Record), and the Design Basis for a facility.
Technical Adequacy: Ensure the technical adequacy of the design process and outputs, providing oversight and final approval.
Review and Approval: Review and formally sign off on design drawings, calculations, and specifications, ensuring compliance with all applicable standards and regulations.
Delegation: Delegate design work to qualified personnel or external organizations while retaining ultimate responsibility for design integrity and compliance.
Collaboration: Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, contractors, and stakeholders to achieve design objectives.
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Engineering or a related field (Masters preferred).
Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification preferred.
Extensive experience in design engineering, with a focus on [Insert Specific Technical Area, if applicable].
Strong knowledge of design control processes and regulatory compliance requirements.
Proven ability to oversee and manage complex design projects from concept to completion.
