Job Summary:
The Regulatory Manager will be responsible for managing and overseeing the regulatory compliance and quality assurance activities regarding labels, programs, and SQF within the company. This role will require deep knowledge of food safety and regulatory requirements, and the ability to maintain a culture of quality excellence. The successful candidate will ensure that our products consistently meet or exceed regulatory standards, customer expectations, and internal quality metrics.
Office Environment: 60% of the work is conducted in an office setting, involving time spent on computer research, project management, and communication with team members and stakeholders. Frequent participation in both in-person and virtual meetings, including project updates, strategy sessions, and presentations to management and stakeholders.
Production Environment: 37% Regular visits to the production areas and lab will involve exposure to machinery, noise, varying temperatures, humidity, and wet conditions.
Travel: <3% Occasional travel for training, meetings, conferences, audits, etc.
Schedule: Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed based on operational requirements.
Key Responsibilities:

Quality Assurance Management:
- Ensure consistent product quality and adherence to internal and external standards.
- Responsible for ensuring all label and box printing systems support production and ensure accurate information is always printed.
- Develop and implement quality control plans, policies, and procedures.
- Monitor product quality programs through regular inspections to identify areas for improvement.
- Collaborate with production and operations teams to ensure quality metrics are met at all stages of production.
- Oversee validation of critical control points and verification of monitoring procedures.

Regulatory Compliance:
- Lead the companys efforts in maintaining compliance with federal, state, and international food safety regulations, including USDA, FDA, and other relevant agencies.
- Stay up to date with changes in food safety regulations, policies, and standards.
- Develop and deliver training programs on food safety, quality control, and regulatory compliance for all relevant employees.
- Work closely with production, Quality Assurance, product development, supply chain, and logistics departments to ensure quality standards are met from raw material to finished product.
- Regularly review and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to maintain regulatory compliance and improve operational efficiencies.
- Collaborates with product development and QA to validate product formulations, labels, claims and follows regulatory agency.
- Audit and Inspection Coordination:
- Coordinate and lead internal and external audits and inspections, ensuring corrective actions are promptly implemented.
- Liaise with regulatory authorities during inspections, addressing any concerns and ensuring resolution.
- Maintain accurate records of regulatory filings, quality control tests, product specifications, and audit results.
- Prepare reports for senior management on quality and compliance status, trends, and improvement actions.
- Work closely with product development and document control to ensure compliance is upheld in all stages of production and shipment.
- Develop and maintain HACCP plan that aligned with USDA and other regulatory requirements.
- Conduct hazard analysis and identify potential risks within production process.
- Any other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in food science, Biology, Chemistry, or a related field preferred.
- 2 years of experience in regulatory compliance, quality assurance, or food safety management within the meat or food manufacturing industry.
- In-depth knowledge of USDA, FSIS, FDA, and other relevant food safety regulations.
- Knowledge of Quality Assurance programs e.g. GMPs, HACCAP, SQF.
- Proven experience with auditing, inspections, and managing quality control systems.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional teams.
- Detail-oriented, with a strong focus on compliance, safety, and product quality.
Working Conditions/ Physical Requirements:
- Regular visits to production areas will involve exposure to machinery, high noise levels, varying temperatures, humidity, and wet conditions.
- Must be comfortable sharing office space with other professionals and performing repetitive, computer-based tasks. This includes extended periods of sitting, reaching with hands and arms, and using input devices such as a keyboard, mouse, and other tools. The role requires maintaining focus on detailed screen work for prolonged durations, including tasks such as data analysis, report preparation, and troubleshooting operational issues.
- Must be able to sit, stand, walk, reach, stretch, stoop, and bend for extended periods.
- Ability to work around ingredients and/or finished products containing food allergens.
- Must be able to communicate through various channels, including phone, email, face-to-face, and videoconferencing.
