Automation Airport Superintendent – Join the CLX Engineering Team!
CLX Engineering is seeking an experienced Automation Superintendent to play a critical role in the success of our airport projects acting as an extension of staff with our client. You will work with autonomy and independence and communicate with CLX Engineering's Program Manager, Director, Project Management, and technical managers as needed. Candidates must be extremely proficient in smooth project mobilization, troubleshooting on-the-go challenges, and driving consistent progress. Your goal? Ensure CLX Engineering is managing subcontractor and vendor relationships, and supporting the completion of projects ending on time, with the highest quality.
This position requires a candidate who is willing to travel 85% of the time. Initially there will be frequent travel to Oakland, CA and occasional visits to the Sanford, FL office. Completing reports and administrative paperwork to ensure both internal and external clients know the most up to date status of a project and what is required for successful completion of milestone goals and project accomplishment will be key.
What We’re Looking For:
- Extremely strong communication skills, with a focus on professional grammar and document presentation to effectively communicate project status to clients and internal CLX staff.
- Experience in airport baggage handling systems and/or material handling systems. Familiarity with TSA PGDS will be extremely helpful.
- Candidates must have enough technical industrial automation experience working with PLCs, conveyors, material handling to make sound decisions working with the vendors and subcontractors.
- Must live within a reasonable commuting distance to visit the Sanford, FL office on occasion.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage daily on-site operations, coordinating with multiple sub-contractors (mechanical, electrical, controls) to ensure smooth project phases from design to mobilization. This position will work mostly night shifts beginning at ~8:00 PM and working till ~3:00 AM - 4:00 AM (this is when airports are slow or closed).
- Monitor project schedules, providing timely feedback to the Project/Program Manager and supporting internal operations meetings.
- Foster professional, collaborative relationships with all contractors, ensuring compliance with safety standards and construction protocols.
- Oversee the quality of installations and ensure that “As-Built” documentation and redline drawings are accurately maintained.
- Work with CLX Engineering leadership and Project Management to determine necessary communication on progress and challenges.

Salary : $80,000 - $105,000
