We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Sales Manager to join our team at CLX Engineering. This role will be pivotal in driving the strategic sales efforts to achieve both short- and long-term goals. The successful candidate will target new and existing markets, cultivating relationships through external sales activities such as client visits, conferences, and trade shows. This position will directly report to the Vice President of CLX Engineering and collaborate closely with teams across Sales, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Project Management to drive success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key leaders in airport automation systems and aviation operations automation, ensuring ongoing and new opportunities for business development.
- Engage directly with major airlines, developing strategic partnerships and exclusive relationships.
- Actively participate in IABSC meetings and related industry events, staying at the forefront of trends and opportunities.
- Travel extensively (=60%) to foster client relationships, attend conferences, and grow market presence.
- Track and forecast future opportunities with a focus on identifying new clients and industry trends that align with CLX Engineering's core technical strengths.
- Collaborate with internal teams to prepare proposals and cost estimates for new business, ensuring alignment with company goals.
- Provide regular SWOT analysis (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats) to senior management to support decision-making and strategic planning.

Requirements
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- 8-10 years of experience in automated material handling, particularly within airport and baggage handling systems (BHS).
- Proven background in sales and business development, with a track record of securing projects in the $1M range.
- Strong strategic thinking abilities, including creating business proposals, cultivating relationships, and maintaining a solid project pipeline.
- Experience in project management (PM) is a plus.
- Exceptional presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Extensive knowledge of leading automated material handling systems and BHS designers such as Vanderlande, Kardex, VTC, CAGE, JSM, and Swanson Rink.
- Strong relationships with leading material handling contractors and BHS service providers, including G&S, FSAA, DCI, WIC, VI, Siemens, and Daifuku.
- Familiarity with BHS O&M contractors (JBT, JSM, ELS, Oxford).
- Comfortable knowledge and understanding of IT systems, SCADA software, and mechanical/controls technologies.
- Solid understanding of contracts, with a proven ability to negotiate favorable terms.
- Strong negotiation skills and an “out-of-the-box” thinking mindset.
- Expertise in the execution of projects from inception through construction, with a deep understanding of various funding methods for airport automation and BHS projects.
