What are the responsibilities and job description for the Building Permit Expediter position at CLYNK?
Job Summary:
CLYNK is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Building Permit Expediter(s) to facilitate the permitting of CLYNK's Redemption Stations (mobile, pre constructed units) in retailer parking lots in Connecticut. We are currently operating a pilot program in five locations, across Bristol, Simsbury, Windsor and Southington and we look to roll out across the state, with 80 plus locations over the next 12 to 24 months. CLYNK Redemption Stations are fully autonomous and powered by wind and solar energy. The modular construction can be moved easily if needed and they are un-manned (like a storage unit). This is an entirely new concept for Connecticut, but CLYNK has a long track record in Maine and New York, with 105 locations between those markets.
The ideal candidates have deep experience in Connecticut to facilitate and streamline the permitting process for our Redemption Stations. This role involves working closely with municipal agencies to ensure the timely approval of building permits. The ideal candidate will have extensive and detailed knowledge of local building codes, zoning regulations, and permitting procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Research & Compliance: Research and understand municipal level permitting requirements for autonomous units in grocery and retail parking lots.
- Retailer & Landlord Approvals: Work with CLYNK’s retail partners to facilitate and obtain necessary landlord authorizations and approvals.
- Permit Application Management: Prepare, submit, and track building permit applications, ensuring all required documentation is complete and accurate.
- Municipal Liaison: Represent CLYNK in communications with municipal departments, resolving permit-related issues and expediting approvals.
- Regulatory Monitoring: Stay updated on changes in zoning laws, building codes, and permitting procedures that could impact redemption station installations.
- Record Keeping: Maintain organized records of permit applications, approvals, and correspondence.
- Project Coordination: Advise project teams on potential permitting challenges and recommend solutions to avoid delays.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (bachelor's degree in construction management, Urban Planning, or a related field preferred).
- Strong understanding of zoning codes, land use regulations and permitting procedures (specifically in Connecticut).
- Excellent project management and organizational skills with the ability to multitask and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Effective communication and negotiation skills to engage with municipal officials and retail partners.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and proactively meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, project tracking, and permitting software.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel throughout Connecticut.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Background in commercial site development, real estate, construction, architecture or civil engineering.
- Direct experience working with municipalities on planning and zoning approvals.
