What are the responsibilities and job description for the CNC Machinist position at CM Shredder?
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Set-up, maintain and operate machine shop equipment, machine tools, including our jig boring machine, manual mill, lathe and surface grinder.
- Produce quality components to Engineering drawings and sketches.
- Work to acceptable production and quality standards.
- Adhere to Health & Safety policies, quality procedures and job specific work instructions.
- Follow written and verbal instructions from Lead Hand and Management.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
- Grade 12 or equivalent
- Knowledge of standard Machine Shop practices.
- Able to read mechanical blueprints and use standard measuring tools (i.e. vernier or dial calipers, micrometer, height gauge and bore gauges).
Experience:
- 3 years Machine shop experience.
- Haas CNC machine as asset
Specific Skill Ability and Knowledge:
- Capable of safely operating all Machine Shop tools and equipment including cranes and tow motor.
- Able to complete process checks & inspection for quality and accuracy based upon engineering specifications.
- Able to effectively communicate to Lead Hands and Supervisors on problems relating to production, scrap, tooling, and equipment.
- Capable of setting up, identifying, and replacing cutting tools.
- Capable of troubleshooting process and tooling problems including communication of root cause findings.
- Assist with tool studies, process development and product or process improvements.
