About the Job:
We are seeking a Blending and Adhesive Specialist to support R&D activities to expand existing high-performance product portfolio, and to maintain and enhance the Company's position as an innovator.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and optimize existing pressure-sensitive adhesive for market.
- Develop and optimize new pressure-sensitive adhesive and liners for packaging applications including linerless, home compostable, recyclable, and barrier.
- Develop and optimize biopolymer formulations for food packaging applications.
- Perform basic laboratory testing in support of R&D and Quality initiatives.
- Formulate biopolymer coatings for paper products to enhance barrier properties.
- Perform material characterization and analysis to ensure compliance with food safety and environmental standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate biopolymer solutions into existing production processes.
- Conduct stability and compatibility testing for biopolymer formulations.
- Develop and implement quality control protocols for biopolymer-based products.
- Stay updated on industry trends, regulatory requirements, and advancements in biopolymer technology.
- Prepare technical reports, documentation, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
- Collaborate and work closely with Chemists on-site by providing guidance, implementing, and testing procedures, as well as working with other SmartSolve Scientists to develop materials and enhance sustainability.
Requirements:
- In-depth knowledge of compostability and biodegradability testing methods.
- Proven track record in developing biopolymer coatings for paper and other substrates.
- Experience with regulatory standards and certifications related to biopolymers.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with common polymer coating processes.
- Experience with bio-based additives and plasticizers.
- Knowledge of sustainable and renewable resource-based materials.
- Familiar with paper packaging for food and nonfood-related applications.
- Understanding of the environmental impact and lifecycle analysis of biopolymers.
- Experience in working with pilot plant and scale-up processes.
