About the Company
Our client, a rapidly growing heavy civil contractor, is seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to join their team in Dallas, TX. This firm specializes in large-scale infrastructure projects, including highways, bridges, underground utilities, and water/wastewater treatment plants. They are looking for a detail-oriented professional with a strong background in estimating complex civil construction projects and a passion for delivering high-quality work.
Position Overview
The Senior Estimator will play a key role in developing precise cost estimates and competitive bid proposals for civil construction projects. This position requires expertise in material takeoffs, risk assessment, cost analysis, and subcontractor/vendor negotiations. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of construction methodologies, self-perform operations, and industry best practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the preparation of accurate and competitive bid proposals.
- Perform detailed quantity takeoffs and analyze project specifications.
- Evaluate project risks, market conditions, and pricing strategies.
- Collaborate with vendors and subcontractors to secure competitive pricing.
- Maintain and refine historical cost data for estimating accuracy.
- Work closely with project managers, engineers, and leadership to align estimates with company objectives.
- Mentor junior estimators and assist in improving estimating processes.
- Represent the company at industry events and strengthen strategic partnerships.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- 7 years of experience in heavy civil construction, including highways, bridges, utilities, and water/wastewater projects.
- At least 4 years of direct estimating experience.
- Strong proficiency in HCSS HeavyBid and takeoff software such as BlueBeam or PlanSwift.
- Experience with scheduling tools like Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Strong understanding of self-perform work, labor, equipment, and material cost estimating.
- Ability to interpret construction plans, specifications, and contract documents.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel when required.
Salary : $120,000 - $190,000
