What You'll Do
- Participates in the CMC Safety Programs and proactively upholds the CMC Safety Culture
- Gain knowledge about Steel Making processes through job shadowing and hands on activities Intern will spend time in each job role throughout the department
- Works cross functionally under direction to improve manufacturing/department processes
- Completes special projects as assigned by their manager, to include analysis and change continuous improvement recommendations as requested
- Perform general labor to support operation requirements
- Participates in team meetings and activities
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Plan, coordinate, and communicate with peers and supervisors daily to ensure safe operations, preservation of company assets, environmental compliance, cost and energy consciousness, and to promote the values of the CMC people program
- Basic knowledge of computers and MS Office programs – Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint
- Work with training department to develop and assist teaching operator development and safety classes
- Supporting company safety programs, and fostering an environment of personal integrity and genuine care for each other's development and well-being.
- Successfully complete the applicable safety and environmental training
- Shows a safety first mindset; recommends improvements to make the workplace safer for self and others.Displays a positive, can-do attitude; maintains composure when faced with difficult situations
- Serve as a champion for CMC's Safety Policies and Procedures and promote a safety culture throughout the team
- Ability to gather, organize and analyze data
- Accountable for accurate data logging, tracking, and auditing (using SAP and Excel)
- Ability to work an 8-hour schedule, which may require some evening or weekend work
- Ability to work in extreme heat
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
- Ability to work as a team player in a fast-paced environment required
- Ability to learn quickly and multitask required
- Ability to pay close attention to detail required

- Must meet CMC attendance standards
- Ability to interact with coworkers and customers in a positive manner, follow directions and work rules and accept constructive feedback required
- Must be able to bend, stoop, push, pull, lift, kneel, squat, crawl and reach
- Ability to work overtime as necessary outside of normally scheduled shift with little or no advance notification required, including weekends and holidays
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Good math skills required
- Proficient in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Currently pursuing a degree in a related field at an accredited university
