What are the responsibilities and job description for the Loan Specialist position at CMCCU?
Purpose
Ensure lending policies and procedures are followed. Provide lending information to members, interview and take loan applications, cross-sell products and services, prepare loan documents to complete the loan with member signatures, and disburse approved loans in a timely manner.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Sign on teller daily and balance teller at night then close out.
- Discuss services and products of the Credit Union with members and potential members.
- Conduct loan interviews.
- Process loan requests.
- Analyze member information, pull credit bureau as needed, and confirm income.
- Determine collateral needs and payment plan.
- Advise member of additional products available such as Debt Protection coverage, GAP, Auto Essentials & Mechanical Breakdown coverage, and be knowledgeable about each product.
- Process Holiday SKIP payment requests when offered.
- Approve or decline loan. Refer loan request to CLO or CEO if you are denying the loan for final confirmation. If denied send adverse action.
- Be able to discuss loan alternatives, credit criteria, interest rates, and loan documentation.
- Prepare loan documentation for member(s) to sign in-house or online, gather all signatures, and book the loan.
- Process and authorize loan due date changes per policy.
- Provide vehicle values from J.D. Power for members as needed.
- Review loans when needed.
- Quote payoffs for members and document quote in the collection notes of that particular loan.
- Gather proper information from members if they need to file a Debt Protection claim and forward that information on to the appropriate staff that files claims.
- Cross train in all side duties performed by the Loan Department such as E-OSCAR, CPI to include monthly general ledger balancing, scanning proof of insurance documents, DP claims, breaking down of charge off files for imaging and review process of new loans. Brach locations would file Notice of Liens and balance the title fee general ledger monthly.
- Complete a minimum of 40 hours of employee training annually via webinars, in-house training, and TRC Interactive training.
- Keep work area void of clutter.
- Present yourself in a professional and positive manner at all times.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
