The Loan Specialist plays a vital role in implementing the financial literacy program for KCU. This attention detailed professional is responsible for analyzing student loan requests and then certifying loans using the financial aid administrative software.

Job Description:
The Loan Specialist plays a vital role in implementing the financial literacy program for KCU. This attention detailed professional is responsible for analyzing student loan requests and then certifying loans using the financial aid administrative software.
Essential Duties:
- Determine student loan eligibility for student loan applicants and complete certification worksheet for each loan requested
- Resolve loan request discrepancies and ensure the accuracy of information transmitted to and from the U.S. Department of Education remains in compliance with federal student eligibility and needs analysis requirements
- Routinely correspond with students regarding their completion and questions of their Master Promissory Note, Entrances and Exit Counseling
- Monitor and verify each student's eligibility for a loan on the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS)
- Cancel loan awards when students become ineligible or by student request
- Monitor daily changes to student enrollment effecting loan eligibility and correspond with loan borrowers to complete loan exit counseling
- Assist with the monthly reconciliation of Direct Loan programs and the return to title IV processing
- Recommends and assists in the analysis and development of enhancements to the financial aid data processing systems
- Represents the Student Financial Aid Office at campus and public events as requested
- Respond promptly to student telephone inquiries and e-mails
- Bachelor's degree or knowledge typically obtained through a 4-year degree
- 1-2 years of previous financial aid loan processing
- Knowledgeable of current federal, state, and institutional regulations governing federal student aid
