CMIT is looking for an MSP Project/Systems Engineer to join our team. The Project/Systems Engineer possesses a broad range of technical and business skills to work with clients and vendors to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget constraints. You will be part of a talented team of engineers that demonstrate superb technical competency, delivering mission-critical infrastructure and ensuring the highest levels of availability, performance, and security for our clients. This is not a remote position. Depending on experience salary is negotiable.
Must be local to Portland OR Bend Oregon.
The successful candidate will work on multiple IT implementation projects centered around Windows Server, Microsoft 365, basic L1/L2 networking, and firewall configuration. Typical projects include Network Infrastructure builds/redesign; AD upgrades/migrations/mergers; ISP changes; virtualization; application server upgrades
Responsibilities:
· Assists in day-to-day project activities under the guidance of senior team members
· Contributes to project goals and deliverables
· Participates in estimating resources needed to achieve project goals
· Assists in maintaining project plans and associated communications documents
· Communicates potential issues to senior team members for mitigation planning
· Tracks project milestones and deliverables and reports progress to senior team members
· Prepares project status reports and presentations, and identifies problem areas
o Monitors application performance and identifies potential bottlenecks
o Follows up with team members to ensure timely completion of deliverables
o Supports efforts to ensure systems and infrastructure availability
o Executes custom scripts to increase system efficiency and reduce human intervention time on tasks
o Participates in network assessment audits under the guidance of senior team members
o Follows written documents and step-by-step procedures for unfamiliar technologies
o Adheres to site safety and legal requirements
o Communicates with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution
o Receives mentorship and training from senior team members
o Stays informed about emerging trends and best practices
o Performs additional responsibilities as assigned
Technical Responsibilities:
· Assists in Office 365 migrations under the guidance of senior team members
· Supports the maintenance of Microsoft-centric LAN environments, including associated needs such as DNS, DHCP, and backups
· Configures firewalls (SonicWALL, Cisco) based on business needs and security best practices, with guidance from senior team members
· Assists in evaluating information security systems against specified security requirements
· Supports routing, VLAN, and virtualization tasks under the guidance of senior team members
· Assists in the implementation and support of network infrastructure, protocols, equipment, applications, policies, and techniques
· Participates in the installation and configuration of the network environment to support data storage, provide services and applications, and maintain system currency
· Contributes to the development of interfaces and integration strategies under the guidance of senior team members
· Applies knowledge in integrating applications and platforms with guidance from senior team members
Qualification:
· 3 – 6 years of experience working on IT implementation projects for small to mid-sized businesses
· Ability to travel as required (~35%)
· Ability to work flexible days/hours – some on-call duty required
· Ability to manage time effectively
