What are the responsibilities and job description for the Interior Design Assistant position at CMR Design?
An Interior Design Assistant is a highly organized and detail-oriented member of a Design team. The Design Assistant executes tasks for an Interior Designer or Sr Designer to help them get their projects completed in a most organized, efficient and timely manner. The Design Assistant is also responsible to make sure that the proper tools are available and in use by the team and that schedules are being set and adhered to. The position requires excellent communication and customer service skills and the ability to multitask.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible to enter all required project data, upload all design selection documentation, keep statuses up to date and store all project artifacts in CMR’s project management system.
- Ensure the use of SmartSheets dashboards and that all data and specs for the teams’ project are kept up to date.
- Assist the design team to create and develop design concepts for interior and exterior spaces, including selecting color palettes, materials, and furnishings
- Take notes during meetings, produce minutes, and follow up on action items.
- Completion of tasks within the timeline and budget as provided by their senior team members
- Create all visual material for client meetings and presentations.
- Produce basic CAD drawings to assist the design team in creating elevations, 3D models, and visualizations.
- Conduct research on materials, products, and design trends to ensure that design solutions are innovative and current
- Assist seniors on job site walkthroughs following up with any necessary items with all relevant parties
- Assist with project management tasks, including scheduling, budgeting, and coordinating with contractors and vendors
- Communicate with clients and vendors to assist in the coordination of design implementation.
- Schedule meetings, book meeting rooms, and ensure all necessary materials are prepared for meetings.
- Maintain design team samples and ensure a clean and organized workspace and library.
- Provide administrative support to the design team as needed.
- Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to obtain quotes, track orders, and manage deliveries.
- Other responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications:
- Completion of a certified design course or Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Adobe creative suite and Microsoft Office
- Good organizational and time-management skills, Attention to detail and ability to multitask
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Physical ability to carry samples to clients and back to CMR offices
- A positive, friendly attitude and willingness to learn
- Ability to interact with customers, vendors, and colleagues in a professional manner
