The Credit Officer I is responsible for evaluating loan applications, assessing creditworthiness, and ensuring compliance with the bank’s credit policies. This entry-level role involves analyzing financial statements, conducting risk assessments, and assisting in loan processing while maintaining excellent customer service.
- Review and analyze loan applications to determine borrower eligibility; Assess financial documents, credit reports, and collateral to evaluate risk
- Verify customer information and ensure compliance with internal and regulatory guidelines.
- Monitor existing loan accounts to ensure timely repayments and risk management
- Assist internal clients with loan inquiries and provide guidance on the application process; Communicate loan decisions and explain terms and conditions to customers; Maintain positive relationships with internal clients and address their concerns
- Ensure all credit documentation is complete, accurate, and properly filed; Adhere to banking regulations, lending policies, and industry standards; Assist in preparing reports on credit performance and portfolio quality
- Work closely with senior credit officers, loan officers, and risk management teams
- Support the development of credit policies and procedures
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field
- Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in commercial credit analysis including but not limited to varied loan and facility types, sizes and levels of complexity, portfolio management, or a related banking role
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Knowledge of financial analysis, credit risk assessment, and banking regulations
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and customer service skills
- High attention to detail and ability to work under pressure
Skills:
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and MS Word and Loan Management Systems; basic keyboarding and calculator skills; must be able to do complex math and carry out complex written instructions
- Travel to variety of locations to perform work and/or attend meetings as required.
- Work occasionally requires more than 40 hours per week to perform the essential functions of the position
