What Does a Welding Supervisor Do At CNC Machine and Fabrication, Inc.?

They organize, coordinate, and supervise employees and activities within the welding department to ensure an effective and efficient welding operation that meets safety, quality and production standards. The Fabrication supervisor will work with management to achieve and establish goals and to manage his/her team to complete jobs on time, in a safe manner, to ensure profitability of the company and customer satisfaction. Some tasks include:

§ Coordinate welding needs with direct reports

§ Help manages the workflow

§ Ensures efficiency during workflow processes

§ Helps establish goals for production and coordinate a plan to meet those goals with Operations Manager.

§ Ensures production stays on schedule

§ Analyzes production data and optimize for efficiency

§ Watches for hiccups in processes and looks for opportunities to improve operations

§ Helps Operations Manager hire, train, and assess performance of other employees

§ Supports Operations Manager and direct reports as questions, concerns or feedback arises

§ Supervises direct reports and delegates tasks to other employees

§ Communicates with Operations Manager regarding process and procedure changes

§ Sets company culture by conveying expectations and policy to direct reports and holds them accountable

§ Works with Operations Manager to maintain employee records such as write ups, performance reviews, pay increases, etc.

Will need to put hood on and weld if production gets behind or crew hours are low because of employee absences.

Objectives:

Manage direct reports and their activities, including overall performance management; training and development; analyzing and resolving work problems; and discipline. Lead team to achieve goals; promote and demonstrate effective communication and positive culture, etc to meet production schedule deadlines and maintain the overall health of workflow and the company financials.

Responsibilities:

1. Improve production efficiency in the weld shop

2. Improve productive labor hours on jobs in the welding area

3. Represent the company positively and professionally in interactions with other employees

4. Carry out annual Performance reviews for direct reports

5. Form a training and development plan for direct reports, solving issues through company policy

6. Give general and specific direction to direct reports in order to meet short term and long term goals

7. Prepare your welding team to execute strategic company objectives daily, weekly and monthly

8. Ensure daily goals are being met in production

9. Supervise the fabrication and welding of new jobs, meeting quality and customer expectations.

10. Enforce company policy

11. Drive continuous improvement through utilization of lean sigma and managing for daily improvement tools and techniques.

12. Manage a repair schedule for machines in your area

13. Help train new hires

14. Remove production constraints; allocate human and equipment resources and direct production employees to attain all established goals

15. Establish goals for production and coordinate a plan to meet those goals with the Operations Manager.

16. Ensure production stays on schedule

17. Assure products meet customer expectation and quality standards

18. Ensure workers and equipment meet performance and safety requirements

19. Adhere to company policy and be a team leader by problem solving for direct reports.

20. Responsible for corrective/preventative actions in response to daily safety.

21. Make sure all direct reports either are or become weld certified

22. Participate and lead daily production meetings

23. Assign jobs and tasks to team members with clear instructions and then follow up throughout the day to make sure those tasks and jobs are being completed.

24. Report any scheduling problems to the Operations Manager

25. Train employees to run the saw.

Required skills and qualifications:

· Management experience

· Ability to stay organized

· Ability to enter data in an MRP system

· Strong commitment to safety

· Ability to lead others in company expectation, protocol and procedures

· Ability to work on a team

· Have a professional attitude

· Accurately reads prints and interrupt action items

· Excellent time management and organizational skills

Physical Demand ADA-Compliant

· Stand or Sit Stationary position- Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.

· Walk/ Move, Traverse- The person in this position needs to move about inside and outside the office in and out of the truck . Use hands/fingers to handle or feel

· Operate, Activate, Use, Prepare, Inspect, Place, Detect, Position Constantly operates a vehicle and industrial machinery, such as a forklift.

· Climb (stairs/ladders) or balance Ascend/Descend, Work atop, Traverse Occasionally ascends/descends steps and trailers in order to tie down un-strap or load product.

· Stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl Position self (to), Move Constantly positions self to tie down un-strap or load product.

· Talk/hear Communicate, Detect, Converse with, Discern, Convey, Express oneself, Exchange information The ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.

· See Detect, Determine, Perceive, Identify, Recognize, Judge, Observe, Inspect, Estimate, Assess The ability to observe details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).

· Carry weight, lift Move, Transport, Position, Put, Install, Remove Frequently moves product weighing up to 100 pounds for various needs.

· Exposure to work Exposed, Work around Constantly works in outdoor weather conditions.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
