Compensation: $19.58 - $23.49 Compensation Type: Employee Employment Type: Regular Grade: NE08 Position Summary Under the supervision of the Library Associate Director, the Library Specialist will be responsible for providing instruction and assistance to library patrons in the use of library services, equipment, and technology. Duties & Responsibilities Meets with patrons where the request, solution and available options are clear; provides instruction and assistance to patrons; assists patrons in the use of library equipment and technology. Conducts library tours and/or orientation classes; customizes orientation class presentation to class/topic; instructs students in the use of library services and resources. Troubleshoots library hardware and software issues as well as non-routine library issues. Performs various clerical tasks using standard word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications. Organizes and performs multiple tasks following technical procedures and government regulations. Performs other related duties of a similar nature and level as assigned. Performs circulation activities, which include recording patron data and due date; inspecting returned books for damage; sorting books, publications and other materials by classification code and returning them to shelves, files, or other storage areas. Answers routine inquiries and refers patrons to Librarian, as appropriate. Assists with collection development and preparation of library materials. Compiles and publishes statistics related to library use and holdings. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in related field, three (3) years of full-time related experience, and one (1) year of full time related library experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
