CNO Financial Group’s IT Team is hiring a Manager, IT Planning to oversee strategic planning for purchasing, cost optimization, and reconciliation within the IT department. This role ensures financial efficiency, budget adherence, accurate reporting, cost control, and compliance with organizational policies. The Manager will also collaborate with various departments to align IT initiatives with business objectives and optimize technology resources.
As a Manager, IT Planning, your responsibilities will include:
Spearheading the development and implementation of IT financial planning strategies, ensuring optimal forecasting, vendor selection, and technology investments (software purchases) that drive and support organizational goals.
Leading the monitoring, forecasting, and reconciliation of IT budgets, ensuring accurate and timely reporting with a strong focus on cost efficiency, accountability, and alignment with organizational objectives.
Collaborating with department heads to identify and allocate resources for IT projects.
Establishing and enforcing financial governance frameworks, ensuring IT expenditure reconciliation aligns with corporate financial policies, procurement best practices, and regulatory requirements.
Leveraging data analytics and financial modeling to proactively identify trends, mitigate risks, and uncover opportunities for cost optimization and operational improvements.
Delivering high-impact financial and operational reports to senior executives, translating complex IT spending data into actionable insights that drive strategic decision-making.
Fostering collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment of IT initiatives with business objectives.
Proactively managing contract terms, market pricing trends, and licensing considerations.
Driving budget planning activities independently and ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
Serving as an expert on organizational change impacts on infrastructure, software, and hardware costs/usage.
Consulting with Directors to integrate savings from efficiencies in license utilization and architecture-driven cost savings.
Driving a culture of financial discipline and accountability within IT, advocating for cost-conscious decision-making, efficiency-driven initiatives, and continuous process improvements.
The Manager, IT Planning position is well-suited for you if you:
Have a comprehensive understanding of budget management, staffing planning, financial models, and IT billing practices for Technology Services-related expenses, including vendor negotiation processes.
Can lead the development of Cost-Benefit Analyses (CBAs) for Infrastructure-driven initiatives and have a solid understanding of common IT billing practices.
Possess demonstrated leadership in IT planning and reconciliation, with exemplary analytical and problem-solving abilities to interpret complex data.
Understand procurement processes, licensing agreements, service level agreements (SLAs), and vendor performance evaluation to drive cost savings, improve vendor accountability, and enhance financial efficiency in IT spending.
What you’ll need:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience
7 years of experience in IT, including at least 5 years in IT financial management & staff planning; familiarity with IT governance frameworks and standards.
Willingness to work Central or Eastern time zone business hours
