Co-op Supply is looking for a Nursery/Plant Leader to join our nursery team! We are looking to fill a full-time position in our Nursery/Garden Center department in our Arlington Store. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is high energy and can handle a fast-paced environment through busy seasons during spring and summer. The successful person in this position will be self-motivated, proactive, energetic, and willing to support all members of our team at Co-op Supply.
JOB RESPONSIBLITIES
This Nursery/Plant Lead position will coordinate operations of the Nursery department, and promote the mission of Co-op Supply in a manner that will maintain operating efficiency and profitability, directing staff for optimum performance, safey and excellent customer service. Other duties includes but not limited to customer service, assist customers with garden questions both in-store & over the phone, moving & arranging plants, maintaining displays and signage, unloading trucks, pricing products, water plants, pruning, counting, and typical general nursery maintenance as well as administrative tasks when necessary.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Previous horticulture and retail nursery experience preferred
- Plant identification knowledge & understanding of wide range of plants including knowledge of our plants in the Pacific Northwest is essential
- Excellent Customer Service skills and communication
- Retail cashier experience
- Oversee all aspects of daily plant care and maintenance, and train support staff for ongoing plant care while away
- Manage planning and inventory control, purchasing, receiving, pricing and displaying of live products as the primary buyer.
- Assist Store Management team in implementing store policies, goals, objectives and procedures
- Support Management team by participating in recruiting, selecting and training of nursery staff
- Ability to multi-task and attention to details
- Must be able to work a flexible work schedule Monday thru Sunday
- Ability to work independently and a team player
- Other duties as assigned
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to work standing, sitting, bending over, kneeling for long periods of time
- Ability to push and pull up to 50lbs frequently: Loading/unloading carts with plants, garden hoses when watering and other tasks as needed
- Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather conditions
Reports to Store Manager but receives direction and works closely with Nursery Lead.
