Job Summary :
We are seeking a skilled Substation Relay Technician to install, test, troubleshoot, and maintain protective relay and control systems within high-voltage substations. This role is critical in ensuring the reliability and safety of the electric grid by performing commissioning, calibration, and maintenance of protective relay equipment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in relay protection, substation operations, and electrical testing procedures.
Key Responsibilities :
- Relay Testing & Commissioning : Perform testing, calibration, and functional verification of protective relays, including electromechanical, solid-state, and microprocessor-based relays.
- Troubleshooting & Maintenance : Diagnose and resolve issues with relay protection and control systems to ensure proper functionality and compliance with system specifications.
- Installation & Upgrades : Install and configure new relay protection equipment, wiring, and associated control devices in substations.
- System Protection Verification : Conduct fault analysis and relay coordination studies to ensure effective system protection.
- Compliance & Documentation : Maintain accurate records of test results, relay settings, and maintenance activities, ensuring compliance with industry regulations such as NERC, IEEE, and ANSI.
- Safety & Standards : Adhere to all safety protocols and industry best practices while working on high-voltage equipment.
- Collaboration : Work closely with engineers, project managers, and field personnel to support relay system reliability and improvements.
