Description : SUMMARY
South LA All In (SLAAI) is a multi-year, coalition-drive initiative to address longstanding racial and
socioeconomic inequities in South Los Angeles – with a focus on underserved areas east of the 110-freeway.
South LA All In will strengthen the community’s economic recovery from COVID-19 while positioning
residents and businesses to benefit economically from the influx of investment and development leading up
to the 2028 Olympics.
Reporting directly to the Associate Director of South LA All In (SLAAI), the Community Engagement
Manager will play a crucial role in crafting and executing a strategic community engagement framework to
advance the SLAAI initiative. This initiative is designed to strengthen community capacity throughout
South Los Angeles and ensure investments and development efforts are community driven and focused.
The Manager will oversee the coordination and implementation of a broad range of community engagement
and capacity-building activities, with a specific focus on CRCD’s affordable and permanent supportive housing
developments, as well as SLAAI’s core initiatives. The role includes directly managing a team comprising of
Community Engagement Coordinators, AmeriCorps VISTAs, and the SLAAI Street Team.
Additionally, the Manager will be responsible for cultivating strategic partnerships with community-based
organizations (CBOs) and faith-based entities, devising capacity-building strategies for local nonprofits,
and leading various initiatives by developing and executing detailed operational plans to achieve
the initiative's objectives.
Through the collaborative efforts of South LA All In partners and stakeholders, key infrastructure and
community-focused investments have been secured in the following priority areas : Good Jobs, Education,
Housing Stability & Affordability, Access to Capital and Social Infrastructure. Key SLAAI initiatives include :
- SLAAI Good Jobs Healthy Communities : $20 million Community Change Grant from the U.S.
Environmental Protection Agency to abate lead in over 600 homes and create career pathways for
hundreds of residents in the clean energy sector.
City of LA Community Grants Program : $4.5 million in community grants for 91 South LAorganizations.
Helping Families Thrive : $1.25 million collaborative homelessness prevention and economic mobilityamong 5 South LA CBO’s.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Position roles and responsibilities include, but are not limited to :
Team Leadership & Supervision : Provide oversight and direction for two Community Engagement Coordinators and AmeriCorps VISTA members, ensuring high team performance and alignment with organizational goals.Strategic Engagement Planning : Collaborate with CRCD’s Real Estate team, program departments, Marketing & Communications team, and other key stakeholders to develop and implement comprehensive community engagement strategies.Cross-Department Engagement Strategy : Design and implement a strategy to foster collaboration across departments, enhancing the impact of CRCD programs and initiatives.Resource & Asset Analysis : Conduct a thorough analysis of resources and assets within the SLAAI region to identify community needs and opportunities for growth.Community Engagement Leadership : Direct South LA engagement efforts, including oversight of the SLAAI Street Team, and spearhead initiatives supporting CRCD’s affordable and supportive housing projects.Stakeholder Representation : Represent CRCD in city, county, and community meetings, providing strategic insights and gathering information to inform engagement efforts.Systems Change & Social Impact Strategies : Lead the development of initiatives that drive systemic change through community surveys, focus groups, and other engagement methods.Leadership Briefings : Provide regular updates and strategic recommendations to CRCD leadership based on community interests and concerns.Event Planning & Execution : Organize and manage community engagement events to promote SLAAI initiatives and increase community involvement.Capacity Building & Training : Develop and implement training programs to strengthen the capacity of community-based organizations (CBOs) and SLAAI partners.Community Advisory Board Development : Assist in establishing and managing a community advisory board to guide SLAAI initiatives and ensure community representation.Community Table Expansion : Develop and implement strategies to grow and enhance the Community Table weekly food distribution program.Staff Development : Lead internal professional development sessions to enhance staff skills, knowledge, and effectiveness.Marketing & Outreach Collaboration : Partner with the Marketing team to create targeted outreach materials and social media content that support SLAAI Street Team initiatives.Grant Oversight & Implementation : Manage and track various grant initiatives, ensuring compliance with funding requirements, tracking progress, and completing grant outcomes. Work closely withinternal teams and external partners to align grant activities with program goals.Reporting & Digital Content Management : Contribute to periodic reports and support website updates to ensure accurate and effective communication of program activities and outcomes.Requirements : QUALIFICATIONS
3-5 years relevant experience and BA DegreeExcellent communication and presentation skillsComfortability working in South LA, engaging with a diverse range of community members, organizations, public officials, and other stakeholders.Demonstrated knowledge of community resources and familiarity of South Los Angeles a plusReliable, flexible team player who works well with minimal supervision, who has a good work ethic, and an ability to set and maintain personal boundaries.Demonstrated ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, and to meet deadlines.Reliable transportation : valid driver's license, and car insurance as required by law, as appropriate.Knowledge and experience of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Power Point, Etc.)SALARY
70,000-$80,000 annually

Salary : $70,000 - $80,000
