Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Specimen Collector to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for collecting urine specimens from patients in a professional and compassionate manner, ensuring adherence to laboratory procedures and safety protocols. This role requires a strong understanding of laboratory techniques and excellent interpersonal skills to interact with patients of all ages. This will start as a part-time role but will quickly grow into a full-time role covering locations in Mobile and Spanish Fort.
Responsibilities
- Collect specimens such as urine, and other biological samples from patients using appropriate techniques.
- Maintain accurate records of specimen collection, labeling, and storage in compliance with laboratory management protocols.
- Adhere to aseptic techniques to prevent contamination during specimen collection.
- Collaborate with laboratory personnel to ensure proper handling and processing of specimens.
- Educate patients about the specimen collection process and answer any questions they may have.
- Follow all safety guidelines and standard operating procedures within the laboratory environment.
- Stay updated on laboratory procedures and advancements in specimen collection techniques.
Requirements
- Proven experience in laboratory techniques, including phlebotomy and catheterization.
- Familiarity with laboratory management practices and procedures.
- Strong understanding of aseptic technique to ensure specimen integrity.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with diverse patient populations.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills for accurate record keeping.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards of quality care.
- Previous experience in a research laboratory setting is a plus.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 25 – 40 per week
