JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Compliance and Legal Programs
Assists General Counsel and Vice President of Human Resources in planning, preparing, implementing, monitoring, and enforcing a Coast Electric Policy and Procedure Compliance Program. Assists General Counsel and Vice President of Human Resources in continuously reviewing, revising and updating Coast Electric's Enterprise Risk Management Program. Assists General Counsel and Vice President of Human Resources in regulatory and legal compliance matters for both Coast Electric and CoastConnect, LLC ("CoastConnect").
Employee Onboarding Experience
Assists Human Resources Specialist in ensuring that all employees and applicants for employment are considered and treated in all aspects of their employment, including recruiting, hiring, training, promoting, etc., without regard to their race, color, religion, sex, age, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability or protected veteran status
Assists Human Resources Specialist in reviewing applications to match experience with specific job-related requirements. Assists in conducting reference and background checks, scheduling new hire physicals, and scheduling drug tests. Assists in organizing applicant interview selection panels. Assists with planning and conducting new hire orientation to foster positive attitudes toward company goals.
Human Resources Administration
Prepares personnel forms, records statistics, and handles highly confidential material in the human resources department. Answers general questions and inquiries in all areas of human resources such as compensation, benefits, recruiting, and employee relation programs. Assists Human Resources Specialist with updating and maintaining the affirmative action plan, EEO-1, and veterans reporting. Contributes to the development of positive employee attitudes and morale through the utilization of internal communication tools, employee counseling, and problem-solving efforts relating to complaints, questions, and career goals. Assists with the employee opinion survey process. Assists with the preparation and distribution of written and verbal information to inform employees of benefits, compensation, and personnel policies. Gathers information and records sick leave, overtime, medical insurance loss ratio, and other information used in tracking goal-sharing progress. Provides a monthly update to the HR Specialist. Performs notary services for various human resources actions such as garnishments, retirement forms, 401(k) forms, etc. Assists the Learning and Performance Specialist with maintaining Class A driver files for drivers required to obtain/maintain an active commercial driver's license, and in completing and documenting driver's license checks. Assists in scheduling the bi-annual physical using DOT-approved vendors. Assists in the setup and logistics of employee training and events. Assists the Learning and Performance Specialist with ensuring that all compliance training, both annual and special, is completed utilizing appropriate and knowledgeable external vendors when required. Manages the employee service awards program and ensures that awards are ordered in advance of presentation at the annual all-employee meeting.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in human resources, workforce training and development or a related field is required. A human resources certification is desired.
- Experience working across various Human Resources functions, is preferred.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS:
The work is performed inside in an air-conditioned setting and outside in the heat and cold. Must be able to lift 20-30 lbs. maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 lbs. Must be able to reach, handle, work with fingers, and feel. Must be able to speak and listen and have an effective and persuasive speaking voice when answering the phone, speaking in public and working with other employees. Must possess visual acuity and manual dexterity.
