Overview:
Coastal Companies is seeking a dynamic and experienced Production Manager for our Groundskeeping team at our industrial site. In this role, you will oversee the daily operations of the groundskeeping department, manage five crews, ensure the grounds are maintained to the highest standards, and utilize software tools for reporting, scheduling, and tracking work. This is a hands-on position that requires strong leadership skills, attention to detail, and the ability to perform the work alongside your team when necessary.
Key Responsibilities:
- Crew Management: Lead, supervise, and manage five groundskeeping crews, ensuring work is completed efficiently, safely, and to the highest quality standards. Provide ongoing training, mentorship, and performance evaluations for crew members.
- Grounds Maintenance: Oversee the maintenance of all grounds, including landscaping, lawn care, tree and shrub maintenance, snow removal, and general site cleanliness. Perform physical groundskeeping tasks as needed, including mowing, planting, trimming, and debris removal.
- Scheduling & Coordination: Plan and schedule daily tasks for crews, ensuring optimal workflow and productivity. Manage staffing levels and resources to meet project deadlines and seasonal demands.
- Software Utilization: Utilize groundskeeping and facility management software to track tasks, monitor progress, update schedules, and report on work completion. Ensure accurate data entry for performance reports, maintenance logs, and inventory tracking.
- Safety & Compliance: Ensure all groundskeeping activities comply with safety standards, environmental regulations, and company policies. Conduct regular safety briefings and enforce safe work practices.
- Budget & Inventory Management: Assist with managing the department’s budget, track supplies, and ensure efficient use of resources. Maintain inventory of groundskeeping equipment and tools, coordinating repairs and replacements as needed.
- Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with other departments (e.g., facility management, maintenance, security) to ensure coordination and resolution of site-wide issues. Communicate regularly with upper management regarding project status, challenges, and improvements.
- Quality Control: Inspect completed work to ensure it meets established standards for quality, appearance, and functionality. Address any performance issues promptly and ensure corrective action is taken.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in groundskeeping, landscaping, or a related field, with at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role. Experience in an industrial or large-scale site environment is a plus.
- Skills: Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and work under pressure.
- Technical Proficiency: Comfortable using groundskeeping and maintenance management software (e.g., FM software, scheduling platforms). Proficiency with MS Office Suite and other business management tools.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, bending, and working in outdoor conditions. Ability to operate groundskeeping equipment such as mowers, trimmers, and snow removal machinery.
- Safety Knowledge: Knowledge of safety regulations related to groundskeeping and industrial environments. Ability to enforce safety protocols and provide guidance to crew members.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Additional Requirements: Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record. Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, depending on business needs.
