Job Overview:
Coastal Construction Management is looking for a reliable, skilled Carpenter/Laborer to join our growing team. This position is ideal for someone who is experienced, motivated, and takes pride in producing clean, professional, and code-compliant work. From framing and trim to roofing, siding, and decking—you’ll be involved in a wide range of hands-on construction projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform general carpentry tasks including framing, trim work, cabinetry, and decking.
- Install and repair roofing, siding, doors, and windows.
- Interpret blueprints and building plans accurately.
- Maintain a clean and organized job site at all times.
- Work independently and as part of a team to meet project deadlines.
- Use hand and power tools safely and efficiently.
- Follow all safety regulations and job site protocols.
Required Skills and Competencies:
(Applicants must demonstrate proficiency in the following or the ability to quickly learn the following)
CARPENTRY
- Framing walls, floors, and ceilings to code using blueprints.
- Reading and interpreting blueprints and project layouts.
- Installing trim including baseboards, crown molding, door/window casings, and wainscoting.
- Building and installing decks with proper structural supports.
- Installing and repairing interior and exterior doors and windows.
- Cabinetry, shelving, and custom wood fixture installation.
- Using hand and power tools, levels, tape measures, nail guns, and saws effectively.
ROOFING
- Installing shingles, metal panels, and roofing underlayment.
- Repairing leaks, damaged flashing, and worn-out roofing materials.
- Working safely at heights using proper fall protection.
- Understanding ventilation, insulation, and roof drainage systems.
SIDING
- Installing vinyl, fiber cement, or wood siding with precise cuts and alignments.
- Replacing damaged siding panels and trimming edges cleanly.
- Applying caulk, weatherproofing membranes, and finishing seals properly.
PAINTING
- Prepping surfaces by scraping, sanding, caulking, or priming.
- Applying paints, stains, and protective finishes.
- Keeping clean edges, protecting surrounding areas, and ensuring a professional finish.
ADDITIONAL TRADE SKILLS
- Basic Electrical: Changing fixtures, understanding circuit safety, using testers.
- Basic Plumbing: Swapping fixtures, minor repairs, identifying leaks.
Workplace Expectations:
- Show up on time daily (7:30 a.m.) with a strong work ethic and ready to contribute.
- Keep trucks, job sites, bathrooms, and workshops clean at all times.
- No trash left behind. No dirt or grease on walls or floors.
- Represent the company with professionalism, integrity, and attention to detail.
Compensation:
- Pay based on experience and skill level.
