Job Overview:
Are you passionate about helping individuals with disabilities live fulfilling lives? We are hiring Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) on a contract basis to provide respite care, skill-building, and community integration support for individuals and their families. You may be responsible for one or all of these services and must be comfortable providing support in each area.
What You’ll Do:
- Assist individuals in daily routines, social skills, and independent living skills.
- Support families by offering respite and guidance on available resources.
- Help individuals engage in their communities through recreational and educational activities.
- Follow personalized service plans to ensure meaningful and effective support.
- Complete required documentation and maintain compliance with state training requirements.
Minimum Qualifications:
- At least 18 years old.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Successful completion of a background check and pre-employment drug screen.
- Must pass TB test if required by the Alabama Medicaid Agency.
- Minimum 2 years' experience working with individuals with disabilities.
Travel Requirements:
Contractors should be comfortable with spending approximately 25% of their weekly hours on travel, including travel time for respite visits. The remaining time will be spent on direct service delivery, such as skills training and community integration activities.
Compensation:
- Competitive hourly rate based on experience.
- Monthly Travel stipend available based on the number of completed respite visits.
