Coastal Surgery Center is searching for a motivated self-starter Pre-Admission nurse to join our growing team at our Point Meadows location.

· Complete pre-admission screening and assessment to patients prior to surgical and endoscopy procedures in line with evidence-based practice. ·
Educates patients/carers on pre-operative care and post-discharge care requirements.
· Coordinates care planning with the relevant Clinical Nurse Manager and multidisciplinary health care team.
· Escalates patient/carer concerns to relevant Clinical Nurse Manager.
· Reviews and updates pre-admission patient information and patient education information in line with evidence-based practice.
· Completes clinical documentation and undertakes other administrative tasks as required.
· Perform duties in accordance with South Perth Hospital policies and procedures.
· Acts as a clinical resource, problem solver and support person for other registered and enrolled nurses in the management of patient care.
· Use effective communication skills when interacting with patients, families/carers and health professionals.
· Participates as a valued team member promoting and contributing to a supportive work environment.
· Manages the performance of self and others within the clinical setting through participation in the performance review process.
· Successfully completes mandatory education on an annual basis. Recognizes the necessity to continually develop skills and acquire additional knowledge appropriate to the position.
· Promotes a multidisciplinary team approach to clinical care.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS: The Operating Room Staff Nurse must be a graduate of an accredited School of Nursing and be currently licensed to practice nursing. A minimum of one year experience in the operating room is preferred. The successful candidate must have the ability to work independently as well as function within a team; have the ability to assess patient needs, determine priorities, plan and direct care for the surgical patient, and must possess the ability to handle stress.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Physical and mental walking, standing, pushing, pulling, required to move patients. Potential risk for exposure to blood and body fluids as well as other hazardous materials. Personal protective equipment should be utilized as needed. Must have a thorough knowledge of general nursing theory and practice; a knowledge of operating room technique; possess strong organization skills and flexibility; present good communication skills; have the ability to assess priorities; present a professional image; and be able to handle periods of stress.
OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE: Category I exposure to blood-borne pathogens, exposure to chemical and/or radiation hazards.
EXPERIENCE: Operating Room: 3 years
EDUCATION & LICENSE:
BLS and ACLS Certification (Required)
Registered Nurse (RN) (Required)
Bachelors (Preferred)
