Job Summary
Project Managers often take full responsibility for administrative and on field duties. They witness a project thrive, help manage the day-to-details and bask in the knowledge that they are the all-important right-hand person of the Project Manager. This is one job description that may fluctuate from day to day.

The need to get on the job and walk it, and keep in close communication with the project team, checking in regularly to confirm everything stays on track. You will also meet with customers and/or regulatory agencies, subcontractors, etc. at the job site so they can inspect the work. In general, work our standard business hours during the week, but it is not uncommon to need to work a longer day here and there, or to work on a weekend when needed to take care of one of your projects.

Responsibilities

Some of your specific duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Develop, manage, and monitor an effective Quality Control Plan for each project. Ensure that customer, regulatory body, and company quality control requirements are satisfied and that all required QC documentation is executed and filed as required.
  • Perform important administrative functions for the Project Manager, which might include updating the project schedule, taking minutes at meetings, making phone calls to vendors and suppliers, responding to e-mails, and writing progress reports to the project team.
  • Evaluate the progress of the project to ensure that the timeline is followed steadily and consistently. Keep an open line of communication with the project participants so they can alert you to potential snags and problems they might see on the horizon.
  • Promote teamwork and optimum performance of the project workforce through effective communication and motivation.
  • Embrace the role of researcher, anticipating that at some point in the project, you will have to investigate some element that is vital to its culmination.
  • Acting on behalf of our client and working to support the Project Manager, you will be key in ensuring that the project runs smoothly to standard and on time by offering a technical and administrative support function to the client’s team.
  • Monitor and control safety and environmental policies and procedures. Ensure that worksites, company personnel and vendors are routinely in compliance with company and government regulations.
  • Routinely accomplish process & submit all required administrative tasks on time. This includes, but is not limited to, planning documents, QC documentation, CFR’s, and safety reports,
  • Your direct reports will work on all projects in the yard, not just your own. Communicate effectively with lateral managers on performance issues, as necessary. Document performance and attendance related items with in-house HR including conducting employee evaluations.
  • Ensures development and best usage of facilities, tooling, and personnel resources. When an employee is terminated provide a Tool Room Clearance to ensure that valuable company property is returned.
  • Manage projects such that potential growth is identified, priced, and submitted to the customer in a timely manner.
  • Ensure that Absolute Customer Satisfaction is achieved on every project; that every customer leaves the yard with full intention to return.
  • Other job-related tasks as assigned

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required
  • 3-5 years of related to industrial and ship repair industries.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills – articulate and diplomatic manner.
  • Able to manage sensitive and sometimes confidential information.
  • Able to build good relationships at all levels, internally and externally.
  • Methodical, accurate and consistent attention to detail to make sure the job gets done right.
  • Computer literate.

Pay: $70,648.00 - $90,000.00 per year
