What are the responsibilities and job description for the OR Supervisor position at Coastal Plastic Surgery?
Coastal Plastic Surgery is looking for an OR Supervisor, ideally an LVN with OR experience or a skilled Medical Assistant with OR or Plastics experience.
Applicant must be responsible, compassionate, motivated, and able to work collaboratively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. The applicant will work directly with the physician, clinical staff, and operating room staff. The role will include time in the OR and clinic. The role will primarily be based in the OR but crossover into clinic at times is to be expected.
Role and Responsibilities
· Assist the Doctor(s) in clinic by chaperoning, scribing, helping with in-office procedures, etc.
· Clinical duties such as suture removal and drain removal
· May be asked to send prescriptions or medical orders as needed (as credentials allow)
· May be asked to help with pre-operative appointments
· Answer medical calls as credentials will allow and route calls to the Nurse when needed
· Circulate for all surgical cases
· Prepare instruments for sterile processing and complete the sterile processing process
· Monitor OR inventory and order supplies as needed
· Prepare the OR, Pre-Anesthesia and warmer for the following surgery day
· Room surgery patients in Pre-Anesthesia – take vitals and complete urine screen(s)
· Complete OR turnover
· May be asked to assist the Nurse in PACU and/or with discharging patients
· May be asked to confirm surgery patients
· Assist with administrative duties (phones, check-in/check-out, etc.) as time allows
· Other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Education Requirements
High School Diploma required, BLS required, two years experience as a medical assistant or LVN
Preferred Skills
Certified Medical Assistant Preferred, LVN preferred, new grad RN preferred
Plastic surgery/aesthetic experience is a plus!
Bilingual English/Spanish is required.
