Description
Coastal Villages Region Fund is currently seeking applications for a qualified Senior Accountant to work in our corporate office in Anchorage, Alaska. Under the direction of the Financial Accounting Manager, the Senior Accountant's primary job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, maintaining, analyzing and reconciling the G/L, including managing G/L sub ledger accounts and generating adjustments as necessary, and maintaining all records related to fixed assets and prepaid expenses. This position will also assist with month-end and year-end close, audit preparation and analysis and reporting to management. This position requires a highly motivated and analytical thinker with two to five years of accounting experience two of which in public accounting who is able to work through complex problems and make valid accounting recommendations. The Senior Accountant is not a supervisory position; however, it requires management and leadership skills to work collaboratively in a team environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Maintain, analyzes, and reconciles all G/L accounts for multiple company subsidiaries.
Maintains G/L sub ledgers accurately, generating adjustments as needed.
Work closely with operations, accounts payable, and purchasing to track and record fixed assets, depreciation, and prepaid expense amortization.
Review P&L for consistent, appropriate accounting treatment, generating adjustments as needed.
Responsible for assisting with month-end and year-end close responsibilities in a timely manner.
Assist with annual audit preparation.
Participates in analysis and reporting.
Develops of policies and procedures to match the needs of the department with those of the company.
Research and review incoming cash and accounts receivable.
Serve as back-up for other accounting roles as needed.
Provide functional advice or training to less experienced accountant positions.
Prepare reports and statistics reflecting financial performance, cash balances, or other financial results.
Prepare and maintain asset schedule, liability, and capital account entries by compiling and analyzing account information.
Assist in creating and organizing new entities as they develop, including setting up a new chart of accounts and verifying all organizational records are filed.
Other duties as assigned.
This position reports directly to the Financial Accounting Manager.
Starting Wage: DOE – Status: Exempt – Full-time
POSITION TYPE & WORK SCHEDULE
This is an Exempt, Full-Time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8AM to 5PM.

Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS – EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, & SKILLS
Bachelor's degree in accounting is required. CPA certification strongly preferred. Two to five years of experience in accounting (two of which must be in public accounting) is required. In order to be successful in this position, incumbent must possess a solid understanding of ASC and GAAP principles. Proficient working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and advanced functionalities of MS Excel (such as pivots, lookups, and data manipulation functions) is required, while experience working with Great Plains software and online applications systems is a plus. This position requires the ability to represent the company in a professional manner and demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills. The ability to learn, teach others, remain flexible, and work well in a collaborative team environment is a must, as well as a high regard for accuracy, attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks to meet deadlines.
