Job Summary:
The Estimator is responsible for estimating new projects.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Prepares estimates from start to finish on all site projects and designs and build projects, including proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents.
- Assist Project Managers in bid take-offs when needed.
- Develops a history of time & material rates and unit prices.
- Resolves discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information
- Prepares reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends
- Transfers information to project managers and supervisors once a project is awarded.
- Plans project budgets.
- Implements an advanced schedule for current work, pending work, and bids that are out.
- Reviews profit and loss for completed projects.
- Increases management's effectiveness by communicating values, strategies, and objectives; assigning accountabilities; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; developing incentives; developing a climate for offering information and opinions; providing educational opportunities.
- Contribute to strategic plan development by studying technological and financial opportunities; present assumptions to senior management; recommend objectives.
- Accomplishes subsidiary objectives by establishing plans, budgets, and results measurements; allocating resources; reviewing progress; making mid-course corrections.
- Maintains quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; participating in professional societies.
