A rapidly growing construction management firm, is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Project Accountant to join our finance team. As a Project Accountant you will play a key role in managing the financial aspects of any projects, ensuring accurate tracking of costs, budgets, and financial reporting throughout the project lifecycle. This position requires a strong understanding of construction accounting practices, including job costing, contract management, and financial forecasting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and oversee the financials for multiple construction projects from inception to completion, including tracking project costs, budgets, and forecasts.
- Prepare and maintain detailed project budgets, including labor, materials, subcontractors, and overhead costs.
- Perform monthly project cost analysis to ensure projects stay within budget and report any variances or discrepancies.
- Coordinate with project managers, estimators, and other departments to gather financial data for accurate project forecasting and reporting.
- Track and reconcile job cost reports, including labor and material expenditures, and ensure accurate allocation of costs to specific projects.
- Prepare and submit progress billing and invoicing to clients, ensuring timely and accurate billing in accordance with contract terms.
- Assist with the preparation of job costing reports, financial summaries, and project status updates for senior management.
- Perform monthly reconciliations of project-related accounts, including accounts payable and accounts receivable.
- Review and monitor subcontractor payments and compliance with contract terms and conditions.
- Provide project managers with financial reports, helping to analyze costs and identify opportunities for cost savings.
- Assist with the preparation of financial reports for project audits and internal financial reviews.
- Support year-end audits by preparing and providing necessary documentation and data.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Construction Management, or related field.
- Minimum of 2-4 years of accounting experience in the construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of construction accounting principles, including job costing, contract management, and progress billing.
- Proficiency with construction accounting software (e.g., Procore, Sage 300, or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- In-depth understanding of GAAP and construction-specific accounting regulations.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to communicate effectively with project managers, subcontractors, and other stakeholders.
- Knowledge of tax regulations and compliance issues related to construction contracts and payments is a plus.
Salary : $100,000 - $120,000
