A dynamic and fast growing real estate management firm is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Accountant. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting with an understanding of real estate accounting practices, month end close, bank reconciliations, and financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and review financial statements, balance sheets, and income statements in compliance with GAAP and real estate industry standards.
- Oversee and ensure the accuracy of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing processes.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring accurate and timely payments and collections.
- Assist with the preparation of tax filings, including property taxes, sales tax, and income tax returns, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and potential cost-saving opportunities.
- Provide senior management with regular financial reports and forecasts to support strategic decision-making.
- Reconcile bank statements and monitor cash flow to ensure liquidity for ongoing real estate operations.
- Assist in budget preparation and tracking, as well as capital project accounting for real estate investments and developments.
- Coordinate with external auditors during year-end audits and prepare necessary documentation.
- Review and ensure the accuracy of journal entries, account reconciliations, and general ledger activities.
- Collaborate with other departments, including property management, leasing, and acquisitions, to ensure accurate financial tracking and reporting.
- Stay up-to-date with changes in accounting regulations, industry standards, and real estate tax laws.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- CPA (Certified Public Accountant) certification preferred, or equivalent professional certification.
- 5 years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in the real estate industry.
- Strong understanding of real estate accounting principles, including lease accounting, property depreciation, and financial analysis.
- Proficient in accounting software (e.g., Yardi, MRI, QuickBooks, or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Excellent knowledge of GAAP, tax regulations, and financial reporting standards.
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
Salary : $90,000 - $120,000
