Position Information
The purpose of this classification is to provide supervision and case management to juvenile offenders placed on court probation.
This position requires working a flexible schedule, i.e., some evening, some weekend, via rotating on-call schedule.
Essential Functions
Perform all duties in accordance to O.C.G A. 15-11-67 & 15-11-68.
Conduct investigations and present reports and recommendations to the court as directed, and provide accurate and truthful information to the court at court hearings concerning a child before the court or when requesting a warrant from the judge.
Maintain and adhere to minimum standards of contacts to include office, school, collateral, and home visits, in compliance with Juvenile Court Policies and Procedures.
Maintain accurate and complete case records / case notes in JCATS.
Meets with probationers and their families to assess risk factors; Monitors the progress made by probationers in meeting the terms of their probation.
Prepares complaints filed for probationers who violate the terms of their probation.
Prepares dispositional reports for court and appears in court to make recommendations regarding further action on the case.
Maintain a consistent review of court orders to include regular review with youth, families, service providers, and supervisor to assure enforcement of court orders.
Performs drug screenings and assessments for court involved youth and coordinates services when indicated.
Provides twenty-four hour on-call service & serves as intake duty officer to the court as assigned.
Perform all other functions designated by the Juvenile Code, by Order of the Court pursuant to this Code, and by court administration and / or supervisors.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice, Psychology, Sociology, Public Administration or related field; supplemented by three years' experience in rendering juvenile probation supervision and / or adolescent case management; or an equivalent combination of education, training and / or experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
Licenses and Certifications
Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License.
Physical Abilities
Tasks require the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and / or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (5-10 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or work station.
Sensory Requirements
Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.
Environmental Factors
Essential functions are regularly performed without exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
