These part-time Library Technician positions are located at the Stratton Library (3) just south of Marietta; Sewell Mill Library & Cultural Center in central / east Cobb County; South Cobb Regional Library in south Cobb County; Gritter Library; and Mountain View Regional Library in east Cobb County. Staff in each of these positions work 18 hours per week including nights and weekends and 4 hours (1 : 00 – 5 : 00 pm) on scheduled Sundays. These positions will, among other duties, assist patrons with online resources and checking library materials in and out, as well as ringing up transactions for copies, lost or damaged library items, and in-house book sales. Having great customer service skills is a plus!
Responsibilities :
- Circulation / information services including : checking books in and out; registering patrons for library cards; registering patrons for voter registration cards.
- Take fines for overdue books.
- Assist in keeping daily statistics.
- Develop and maintain a working knowledge about the organization and care of library materials, library services, and programs.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications :
High School diploma or GED required; supplemented by six or more months work experience involving public interaction / customer service.
Preferred Qualifications :
Enjoys working with the public. Great computer skills recommended for assisting patrons with downloading ebooks on their personal devices.
Tasks require the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and / or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (5-10 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or work station.
Sensory Requirements :
Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.
Environmental Factors :
Essential functions are regularly performed without exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
