What are the responsibilities and job description for the Work Order Technician - Water position at Cobb County Government?
The purpose of this classification is to assign, track, and process work requests and to provide routine administrative support for an assigned department.
A Data Entry assessment will be required for this position. Details for the assessment will be sent via email after the closing date of this job announcement for applications received that successfully meet the minimum qualifications. The assessment will close on Monday, April 14th, 2025, at 11:59 pm.Receives and processes work order requests; prioritizes and assigns work orders according to unit policy and procedures.
Utilizes computerized work order system to enter work orders; ensures all appropriate information is recorded regarding each work order.
Retrieves technical information into computer in order to update requests, process work orders and respond to requests for additional information.
Performs tracking of work orders in progress; maintains record of outstanding work orders; investigates outstanding work orders to determine and record the reason(s).
Reviews technician entries for purposes of updating the work order system.
Performs a wide variety of administrative duties in supporting unit functions, i.e., answering telephones, processing unit mail, copying materials.
Performs customer service functions in person, by telephone or by email; provides information and assistance regarding department services, forms or other issues; responds to routine questions, complaints, or requests for service; initiates problem resolution.
Enters data into computer systems; logs, tracks, or maintains records regarding department activities; compiles data for further processing or for use in preparation of department reports; files, maintains, and stores hardcopy records.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED required; supplemented by one year of work experience in administrative or clerical support or related field.
Tasks require the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (5-10 pounds)
Sensory Requirements
Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally. Some task requires the ability to perceive and discriminate colors or shades of colors and visual cues or signals.
Environmental Factors
Essential functions are regularly performed without exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
