Summary/Objective
We are looking for a highly skilled and proactive Assistant Controller to join our finance team. In this hands-on role, you will provide financial leadership, oversee key financial operations, and manage the day-to-day activities of the finance department. You will report directly to the Director of Finance, helping to drive financial performance and ensure compliance across multiple financial functions.
Essential Functions

1. Prepare monthly financial statements in a fast-paced, five-day close environment. This includes preparing, reviewing, and analyzing journal entries, reconciliations, and reports in compliance with IFRS. You’ll handle key accounting functions such as revenue recognition, intercompany transactions, payroll entries, lease accounting, fixed assets, bad debt reserves, and consolidation of financials.
2. Improve financial outcomes by identifying the causes of unexpected variances, spotting trends, and recommending corrective actions to senior management.
3. Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.
4. Manage business tax filings, including sales tax for the US (across 40 states), Canada, and the UK, as well as business registrations, personal property tax returns, and unclaimed property filings.
5. Lead annual reviews, audits, and income tax preparation, coordinating with internal and external accounting and tax firms for both the parent company and its subsidiaries.
6. Assist with cost accounting, including preparing the semi-annual standard cost roll, reviewing transfer pricing rates, updating service department rates, and pricing updates as required.
7. Support the annual budgeting process and ensure proper analysis of actual results versus budget across multiple companies and cost centers.
8. Establish and maintain robust internal controls and procedures that safeguard system integrity, data accuracy, and financial reporting.
9. Manage and develop your team through work allocation, training, and performance evaluations. Act as a backup when necessary.
10. Communicate clearly and professionally with co-workers, management, vendors, customers, and other stakeholders.
11. Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Requirements:Job Requirements
1. Bachelor’s degree in accounting (Master’s degree and CPA designation preferred).
2. At least five years of progressive accounting experience in a manufacturing environment, with prior supervisory experience.
3. High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and accuracy.
4. Ability to thrive under pressure, multitask, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
5. Superior collaboration skills and the ability to work with cross-functional teams.

8. Proficient in MS Office, with advanced skills in Excel. Infor SyteLine experience is highly desirable. Experience with Vivid Reports and PowerBI is a plus.
9. Ability to read and interpret complex documents, including purchase orders, legal documents, and freight/logistics documentation.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position is responsible for managing the finance department, which includes two direct reports: the Credit and Collections Specialist and the Junior Accountant.
