Position Summary: The Part-time TRiO Student Support Services (SSS) Program Assistant is responsible for ensuring student needs and program goals are met and providing additional support to maintain the daily logistics of the TRiO/SSS program operation and events. Essential Functions: As defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include any of the following tasks, knowledge, skills, and other characteristics. This list is ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY, and is not a comprehensive listing of all functions and tasks performed by incumbents of this class.Note: Cochise College requires a post offer, pre-employment background screening of all employees.This position is open until filled with applications reviewed upon receipt and may close at any time.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Duties and Responsibilities: Within the scope of college policies and procedures, this position: Assists with program recruitment activities; prepares new applications for TRiO/SSS review; assists with website updates and development of program flyers Maintains records of all students receiving group/individual tutoring; maintains accurate student meeting records in student files and program database Contributes to the planning and facilitation of student success workshop series, program events and campus visits, including marketing and data entry Assists with external contact and contacts from TRiO/SSS students within 24-business hours and disseminates inquiries to the proper parties; answers preliminary questions by phone, email, or in person about TRiO/SSS and route inquiries to the proper party Assigns tutors to TRiO/SSS students requesting or needing tutoring services; collaborates with TRiO/SSS advisors to help meet students’ academic and other needs; collaborates with other campus offices and programs to address student necessities Performs other related duties as assigned General Expectations: Employees are expected to accomplish assigned duties in an efficient, effective and competent manner and to strive for improvement and excellence in all work performed. Additionally, employees must understand the comprehensive role of the community college and cooperate and work harmoniously with students, faculty and staff, and the public. Employees will follow all college policies, rules, regulations and guidelines as they relate to this position.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Work Environment: Work is primarily performed under general supervision in a typical office setting with appropriate climate controls. Evening and weekend work may be required. Physical Requirements: Essential functions of this position require: lifting, manual dexterity, ability to communicate. Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body; involves sitting majority of time; walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met Mental Application: Utilizes memory for details, verbal instructions, emotional stability, critical thinking, adaptability and creative problem solving skills are importantReports to: Director of TRiO Student Support Services
