TEMPORARY PART-TIME CUSTODIAN/MAIL CLERK - COUNTYWIDE
CLASSIFIED: Position is subject to the provisions of the Merit System Rules pursuant to Arizona Law
Part-time position works up to 19.5 hours per week

RATE OF PAY: $15.65 hourly

Under direct supervision performs service work of routine difficulty in custodial and mail service duties; performs related duties as assigned.

(Illustrative Only) Cleans and maintains County facilities; participates in the pick-up, processing, and delivery of interdepartmental mail; identifies and reports repair needs; makes minor repairs.
Six months of related experience; must possess and maintain a valid Arizona Driver’s License and the ability to be covered by county insurance.
An equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved may be considered.
SPECIAL NOTE: Must successfully pass a comprehensive background screening.Some knowledge of:
- procedures, materials, and equipment used in custodial work;
- occupational hazards and required preventative measures;
- basic clerical related functions.
- maintain safety and cleaning standards;
- establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies, and the public;
- read, write and speak English;
- communicate effectively verbally and in writing;
- follow verbal and written instruction;
- perform manual labor;
- deliver and pick up mail in various locations;
- drive county vehicle;
- work out-of-doors under varying weather conditions.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is primarily performed under direct supervision. Incumbent generally performs work in a typical office building setting with appropriate climate controls and out of doors in varying conditions. Work includes possible exposure to blood borne pathogens and potentially hazardous chemicals. Chemical exposure may include but is not limited to cleaning agents and sanitizers. Travel, early morning, and evening work may be required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Essential functions of this position require: lifting, manual dexterity, includes fine and large motor skills, ability to communicate.
Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body; involves sitting only occasionally, walking and standing are required regularly, incumbents may be required to kneel, crouch/squat, crawl, climb, stoop, turn/twist, balance, reach, or handle
Mental Application: Utilizes memory for details and verbal instructions, requires emotional stability, critical thinking and adaptability; creative problem-solving skills are important.
