Under general supervision performs work of moderate difficulty in research and data analysis utilized for fleet management; performs related work as assigned.

Typical Duties

(Illustrative Only)

  • Compiles data and performs lifecycle cost analysis and produces insights for review and assessment
  • Compiles, analyzes, and evaluates statistical data to determine cost-saving processes with workflow, products, or services
  • Utilize fleet, financial, and procurement database/systems to assist in the development and integration of operation efficiencies.
  • Prepare and assist in developing, writing, updating, and verifying new or existing bid specifications for purchases of equipment, parts, and services, request for quotes, or request for proposals
  • Makes recommendations for bid awards
  • Prepare, administer, and monitor the operating and capital improvement budgets for section
  • Prepares vehicle replacement budget
  • Establishes and prepares vehicle and equipment replacement schedules
  • Estimates costs for repair and replacement of damaged vehicles
  • Reports findings and makes recommendations to management
  • Prepares and maintains electronic and print files and records
  • Perform extensive research for special projects, collect information on operational and administrative problems and perform comprehensive analysis; synthesize information and make recommendations on policy issues
  • Writes queries, using advanced formulas, pie charts, line graphs, bar graphs, plotting tables, pivot tables, etc.
  • Provide education and training on key metrics
  • Provide trend analysis on fleet usage and recommendations for improvements
  • Research and make recommendations on future EV (Electric Vehicle) fleet
  • Develop RTA (Ron Turley Associates) data tracking that supports Fleet and Heavy shop benchmark

Essential functions of this position include and not limited to driving; working with and around others, co-workers, clients, agencies, etc.; working alone; dealing with interruptions; repetitive motion (hand/wrist) for computer input and driving; vision acuity (near/far); hearing and speech for ordinary conversation; touch/finger dexterity for computer work, visiting field sites and walking on uneven terrain.

Minimum Qualifications

Four years of experience in fleet operations OR any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.

Additional Requirements: Must obtain an Arizona driver's license by date of hire and maintain it throughout employment. This position requires a background check. The final job offer will be contingent upon a satisfactory 5-year Arizona Motor Vehicle Report.

Coconino County Fleet Services is looking for a motivated individual with interest in pursuing a career with our Fleet Services Team. The ideal candidate will have considerable knowledge in data analysis, with some exposure to the Automotive and Heavy Equipment industry. Communication skills are essential for both internal and external customers and key to the performance of the entire team. Preferred Qualifications: Specific experience in the automotive and equipment maintenance industry and one year experience in fleet operations in the public sector.

This position is safety-sensitive.

This position is non-exempt from overtime.

This position may be required to work 12-hour shifts during declared emergencies or snow/flood events.

  • Techniques associated with fleet maintenance operations
  • Principles and practices of competitive public sector purchasing, contracting, and disposal operations
  • Principles and applications of statistical methods, forms, and analyses
  • Principles and practices of database operations and maintenance
  • Standard office practices and procedures
  • Some knowledge of:
  • Principles and practices utilized in cost accounting
  • Principles and practices utilized in life-cycle costing
  • Skill in:
  • Developing and writing bid specifications
  • Effectively analyzing information
  • Use of various software programs, including Access, Crystal Report, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Reading and interpreting data
  • Performing and verifying mathematical computations and formulas
  • Ability to:
  • Effectively plan and organize assignments
  • Prepare and maintain records and reports
  • Research and verify information
  • Exercise analytical judgment in recommending changes in complex factors affecting fleet operations
  • Work safely and support the culture of workplace safety
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies, and the public
  • Follow written and verbal instructions
  • Communicate effectively verbally and in writing
