Under general supervision performs work of moderate difficulty in the financial management of a department; performs related work as assigned.
Note: The duties of the position include all business manager functions for the Recorder’s office, as well as overseeing the operations of the county mailroom, and supervising the mailroom clerk.(Illustrative Only)
• Administers departmental accounting function
• Coordinates the financial management of programs, grants, and contracts
• Prepares cost projections and financial and administrative reports
• Participates in the preparation and administration of the budget
• Participates in internal and external audits
• Supervises and trains staff as assigned
• May be responsible for payroll, accounts payable and purchasing
• Oversees the operations of the county mailroom
• Supervises the county mailroom clerk
Essential functions of this position include but are not limited to: sitting, working with and around others; vision acuity (near) for working at a computer; working with interruptions; repetitive motion (hand/wrist); vision acuity (near/far) for computer input, etc.; hearing and speech for ordinary conversations; touch-finger dexterity for computer work.
Associate degree in accounting, business administration or a related field and two years of increasingly responsible budget/accounting experience; OR;
Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration or related field and one year of increasingly responsible budget/accounting experience; OR;
Three years of increasingly responsible budget/accounting experience; OR;
Any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.
The ideal candidate will have experience in financial management, budgeting, and accounting practices in a government setting; skill in the use of data management programs such as Microsoft Excel; knowledge of US Postal Service mailing guidelines and procedures; and the ability to work independently while maintaining communication with staff, vendors, and other county departments.This position is non-exempt from overtime.
