Job Title: SQL Database Administrator (DBA) Lead

Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced and proactive Database Administrator (DBA) Lead to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing hands-on work with MSSQL databases and coordinating with the offshore team to ensure seamless execution of DBA activities across various database technologies. This role requires strong technical expertise, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks effectively.
SQL databases include Aurora Postgres, MySQL, Sybase, DB2, MSSQL. And NoSQL databases include DynamoDB, DocumentDB.
Key Responsibilities:
- Database Management:
- Perform installation, configuration, and maintenance of databases.
- Monitor database performance, implement changes, and apply new patches and versions when required.
- Ensure data integrity and security of the databases.
- Optimize and tune database performance to meet application requirements.
- Backup and Recovery:
- Develop and implement backup and recovery strategies.
- Conduct regular backup tests to ensure data recovery readiness.
- Manage and troubleshoot database replication and high availability solutions.
- Coordination and Collaboration:
- Work closely with the offshore DBA team to plan and execute database-related activities.
- Act as the primary point of contact for onsite database issues and escalate when necessary.
- Participate in regular meetings with the offshore team to ensure alignment and effective communication.
- Troubleshooting and Support:
- Provide L2/L3 support for database-related incidents and service requests.
- Diagnose and resolve database issues promptly.
- Develop and maintain documentation related to database configurations, procedures, and processes.
- Compliance and Best Practices:
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices for database management.
- Implement and enforce database security policies and procedures.
- Conduct regular audits and reviews to ensure database systems are secure and compliant.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Stay updated with the latest database technologies and industry trends.
- Recommend and implement improvements to existing database infrastructure and processes.
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior DBAs as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum 10 years of experience as a DBA with hands-on experience in MSSQL databases.
- Strong knowledge of database management, performance tuning, and optimization techniques.
- Experience with backup, recovery, and high availability solutions for databases.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
